    Summer Cruise 4 Features Francesca

Francesca Battistelli brought her guitar, CDs and “Free to Be Me” t-shirts to The JOY FM and joined The Morning Cruise for a week-long tour of restaurants and coffee shops dubbed “The Summer Cruise,” June 22-26. Dave Cruse, Bill Martin and Carmen Brown took their morning show on the road, hosting nine live broadcasts in five days. The Fervent recording artist sang songs from her acclaimed debut, My Paper Heart, and signed autographs for thousands of fans.

Keeping with tradition, the search-and-rescue contest called Where in the World is Carmen’s Pink Flamingo? was a fan favorite. The contest awarded Disney Night of Joy tickets to the first listener who found and returned a plastic pink flamingo, affectionately named Pinky Cortez Tuscadero.

This was the fourth annual “Summer Cruise” and the third featuring a major recording artist. Alumni include Matthew West and Brandon Heath. The purpose of “The Summer Cruise” is to “erase the distance between the audience and the morning show and our artists” said Carmen Brown, Program Director & 1/3 of The Morning Cruise.
